The Local Government Association of the Northern Territory (LGANT) is the peak body representing the local government sector in the NT. We represent all 18 local government councils. Membership consists of five municipals, three shires, ten regional councils, and one associate member (Nhulunbuy Corporation). LGANT was formed in 1992, the result of the amalgamation of two separate organisations, one representing municipal councils and the other community government and association councils.
